Stans heating and air conditioning

… while Chris Strand was with Strand Brothers, the company became the leading contractor for air conditioning replacements in existing homes, with a market share of over 20%.

Long-standing Austin area heating and air conditioning manufacturer Chris Strand recently acquired Stan’s Heating & Air Conditioning, an Austin company formerly owned by Stan Johnson and founded in 1954 by Stan Johnson’s father.

Chris Strand founded Strand Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning in 1978 and later sold the company to Service Experts.

“I sold the Strand Brothers and fulfilled my obligation to the new owner in late 2010,” said Strand. “But Austin is growing, and I think there is a need for a local heating and air conditioning company with expertise in energy conservation. So my family and I, along with some key people who used to work at Strand Brothers / Service Experts, decided to return to work at Stan’s. “

According to a report by Austin Energy, while Chris Strand was with Strand Brothers, the company became the leading contractor for air conditioning replacements in existing homes, with a market share of over 20%.

In addition to his work at Strand Brothers, Chris was instrumental in formulating and implementing guidelines for Austin Energy to promote energy efficiency.

“We were part of the effort to build a so-called nature conservation power plant,” recalls Strand. Through low-interest loans and discounts on energy-efficient equipment, as well as improvements such as insulation and pipe repair, Austin Energy’s goal is to save enough electricity to eliminate or delay the need for a new power plant. “

Unlike traditional heating and air conditioning companies, Strand has focused on what he calls the “Whole House” approach to energy conservation.

Stand emphasized: “It is of little use to install a highly efficient 16-SEER system in a house if the pipes have gaping holes. The cooling and heating system is only part of the equation. To get the most comfortable living environment possible and the lowest possible cooling costs, you also need to look at things like insulation, sun protection, radiation barriers … the whole house. “This is the business we’ll be in with Stan.

Chris Strand is accompanied at Stan by his brother Tom Strand, sister Kate Strand Bennett and mother Caroline Strand. Long-time Strand employee John Williams is now the general manager of Stan’s. Stan Johnson will stay with the new build company.
